BV Certification On-site: The Rigorous Birth Of East Ocean Lifa’s Propeller Boss Cap Fins
May 27, 2026
At East Ocean Lifa Propeller Works in Zhoushan, the arrival of the Bureau Veritas (BV) inspector marked the start of a full compliance audit for our custom Propeller Boss Cap Fins (PBCF) for a European client. This was not just a routine inspection-it was a key milestone for our product's entry into the international market.
The certification process began on the factory floor. Our PBCF was coated with a pink penetrant solution for PT (Penetrant Testing) inspection. The BV inspector leaned in closely to check for any microcracks or porosity invisible to the naked eye. Every step of the manufacturing process, from casting in Grade A nickel-aluminum bronze alloy to precision CNC machining, was rigorously verified at this stage. Next, the inspector repeatedly measured the fins' angles and profiles to confirm they fully matched the CFD-optimized design parameters, ensuring the fins would perfectly coordinate with the propeller to eliminate hub vortices and recover wasted kinetic energy.
During the technical review, the BV inspector worked with our engineers to verify the PBCF design drawings. Every detail in the documents-from the parts list and main technical data to construction drawings-was carefully examined. Our engineers presented full process documentation, from casting and machining to dynamic balance testing, demonstrating that every stage of production strictly adheres to international standards.
This entire process was a dual test of the East Ocean Lifa PBCF's performance and compliance. The product delivers stable fuel savings of 5% to 8%, helping clients easily meet international energy efficiency standards including EEXI and CII. It also reduces hub cavitation erosion and extends the service life of the entire propeller system.
The smooth progress of BV certification is a testament to our clients' trust and recognition of our 26 years of marine propeller manufacturing experience. Going forward, we will continue to benchmark against international standards, providing more efficient and eco-friendly marine energy-saving solutions for the global shipping industry.
