LIFA Propeller – Custom Cu1 5-Blade High-Speed Marine Propeller For Maldives Client
Aug 21, 2026
This 5-blade high-speed propeller is custom-made for our client in the Maldives. Adopting mature bronze alloy casting technology and professional hydrodynamic optimization design, it suits the operating conditions of offshore passenger transport and commuter speedboats sailing between the Maldivian islands, delivering an efficient, stable and durable propulsion solution for island high-speed vessels.

The custom propeller is cast from Cu1 bronze alloy. This material features balanced comprehensive mechanical properties, satisfactory seawater corrosion resistance and cavitation erosion resistance. The seawater in the Maldives is highly saline. Vessels travel frequently among reefs, and propeller blades are constantly exposed to the corrosive marine environment, which may cause pitting and surface wear. Cu1 alloy performs well under such offshore working conditions, ensuring long-term stable operation, extending service life and cutting later maintenance and replacement costs for shipowners, matching the high-frequency navigation mode of local vessels.
Compared with conventional 3-blade and 4-blade propellers, the 5-blade design has obvious advantages at high speeds. In the design phase, Propelements is used for propeller geometric modeling, followed by CFD hydrodynamic simulation verification via STAR‑CCM+. Blade skew, rake and airfoil sections are optimized repeatedly to reduce vibration and noise during navigation, improve propulsion efficiency and save fuel consumption. Lower vibration protects the hull and main engine, and enhances passenger comfort, meeting the core demands of Maldives maritime passenger transport for smooth sailing and controlled fuel expenses.

The whole manufacturing process complies strictly with marine industry standards, including 3D digital modeling, mold casting, CNC finishing, blade polishing, non-destructive testing (NDT), dynamic balancing and pre-delivery inspection. The attached photos present the full production cycle: design finalized with a 3D model, rough casting finely machined and polished, then subjected to non-destructive testing. Photos taken before and after NDT are kept as official process records. Anti-corrosion primer is applied after inspection before final acceptance. NDT is critical for detecting internal casting defects such as pores and cracks to guarantee operational safety. Every finished unit undergoes strict checks on dimensional accuracy and mechanical performance. Full sets of paper technical documentation can be provided to meet overseas delivery and inspection requirements.

With years of experience in custom propeller manufacturing, we tailor the propeller diameter, pitch and expanded area ratio according to the vessel parameters, engine power and design speed to achieve optimal matching among hull, propeller and main engine. Many units delivered for real-ship operation overseas have received positive feedback. Numerous clients confirm that propellers remain in good condition after one year of service, running smoothly with remarkable fuel savings.
LIFA Propeller has long served island shipping clients across South and Southeast Asia. This custom Cu1 5-blade high-speed propeller features sophisticated hydrodynamic design, rigorous NDT quality control, reliable workmanship and outstanding durability. It has been delivered to our Maldivian client for operation, offering a trusted propulsion solution for local maritime commuter vessels and a dependable manufacturing choice for island shipowners.
