Characteristics Difference Between Cast Aluminum And Aluminum Profiles For Door And Cover Products
May 05, 2026
In the manufacturing of door and cover products, cast aluminum and aluminum profiles are two widely used core materials with distinct characteristics. Due to different processing technologies, they have significant differences in forming capacity, structural strength, appearance texture and applicable scenarios, adapting to different product needs and service environments. The following compares their characteristics from multiple dimensions to help understand their application logic in door and cover products.
Cast aluminum is mainly processed by pouring molten aluminum liquid, and its most prominent feature is high forming freedom. Whether it is complex door patterns, special-shaped cover structures, or decorative details with concave-convex texture, cast aluminum can accurately replicate the mold shape without complex subsequent splicing. The one-piece forming feature makes the door and cover products highly integrated without splicing gaps, which not only improves the integrity of the appearance, but also effectively enhances the sealing performance, avoiding the infiltration of water vapor and dust. It is especially suitable for outdoor doors, equipment sealing covers and other products with high requirements for sealing performance.
In terms of performance, cast aluminum has uniform density, excellent compression and impact resistance. After aging treatment, it has outstanding corrosion resistance and anti-aging ability, and can adapt to harsh environments such as humidity, high temperature and salt spray, with a service life of decades. However, cast aluminum also has obvious limitations: it is relatively brittle and lacks toughness, which is prone to cracks when subjected to severe impact. In addition, it is relatively heavy after forming, which will increase the installation difficulty and transportation cost of door and cover products, so it is not suitable for scenarios with high requirements for light weight.
Aluminum profiles are strip-shaped aluminum materials made by extrusion process, which are used in door and cover products after cutting, splicing, bending and other processing. Its core feature is the combination of light weight and high strength. Aluminum profiles have low density, about half the weight of cast aluminum, which greatly reduces the self-weight of door and cover products and facilitates installation and transportation. At the same time, after extrusion forming, the profile section is regular, with high structural strength and excellent toughness, which is not easy to break. It is suitable for indoor doors, lightweight equipment covers, folding doors and other products that need frequent opening and closing or movement.
In terms of appearance, aluminum profiles have a smooth and flat surface, and can achieve a variety of colors and textures through anodizing, spraying and other processes, with strong decorativeness. The splicing technology is mature, which can create a simple and elegant modern style, suitable for indoor decoration scenarios. However, the forming of aluminum profiles is limited by the section, and it is impossible to make complex special-shaped structures. There are gaps at the splicing joints, and the sealing performance is relatively poor compared with cast aluminum. In addition, long-term exposure to the outdoor is prone to oxidation and loosening at the splicing joints, and the service life is slightly shorter than that of cast aluminum products.
In summary, both cast aluminum and aluminum profiles have their own advantages and disadvantages: cast aluminum is suitable for outdoor doors and sealed cover products that pursue sealing performance, durability and complex shapes; aluminum profiles are more suitable for indoor doors and lightweight covers that pursue light weight, decorativeness and convenience. In actual production, it is necessary to reasonably select materials according to the product's service environment, functional requirements and cost budget to achieve the optimal performance and practicality of door and cover products.
