Propeller material:
1. Propeller materials need corrosion resistance, high strength and easy processing. At present, most of the materials are copper alloy, in addition to cast steel, cast iron, stainless steel, fiberglass, nylon and nickel alloy, titanium alloy, etc.
2. High manganese aluminum bronze is applicable to the propeller with high precision requirements, which is resistant to seawater corrosion, high strength, high elongation, good impact toughness, easy manufacturing and processing, but poor cavitation resistance.
3. Aluminum manganese iron brass is suitable for large propellers with low speed and medium manufacturing accuracy requirements, which are corrosion resistant, high strength, fatigue resistant and corrosion resistant, but difficult to cast and high cost.
4. FRP and nylon are suitable for small boats with light weight, corrosion resistance, easy processing, but poor strength and variability.
5. Ferromanganese brass is suitable for propellers with high strength, good toughness, corrosion resistance and easy processing and manufacturing.
6. Cast iron is suitable for small boats with poor mechanical performance, easy corrosion, easy casting, heavy weight and low propeller efficiency.
7. The cast steel spare propeller has good mechanical performance, but it is easy to corrode, difficult to cast and high cost.
Marine stainless steel propeller has the following characteristics:
With the increasing scale and speed of ships and the aggravation of sea water pollution, stainless steel as a propeller material seems to be a trend. Propellers can be high-strength. Under the same design conditions, compared with copper alloy, the weight can be significantly reduced to prevent stern bearing wear and reduce the rotational inertia of the propeller. The super-large propeller can be manufactured by casting single blade separately and then welding and assembling. Because the corrosion fatigue strength and cavitation erosion resistance are several times or even more than ten times of that of copper alloy, the service life of the propeller can be improved, especially in polluted seawater, stainless steel has more advantages. Due to its high strength, it is conducive to the design of large skewed propeller. The blades can be thinned and made into multi-blade propellers, which not only improves the propulsion efficiency of the propeller, but also reduces the vibration and noise of the propeller.
